DIY Lipstick At Home With Beetroot

 

Back in the day when there were no lipsticks, beetroot was the go-to lip tint! Just a little dab of this and people were ready to go. This healthy veggie has great anti-inflammatory properties too. Here’s how to make homemade lipstick with beetroot.

 

Ingredients

 

  • A beetroot

  • 1 teaspoon coconut oil

  • Grater / Food processor

  • Container

 

Homemade Lipstick With Beetroot

 

Step 1 - Wash the beetroot and then scrape out its peel. Cut the beet into small slices and pop it in the food processor till you see some liquid residue. You can also grate the whole peeled beetroot and extract the juice from it. Do not add water.

 

Step 2 - Strain the juice from the processed beetroot and pour it into a container and keep it in the fridge for some time.

 

Step 3 - Take a teaspoon of coconut oil and add it to the beetroot juice. Depending on the intensity you’d like, add more coconut oil (if you just want a tint).

 

Step 4 - Using a chopstick or a toothpick to mix the two ingredients together. Set it in the fridge.

 

Note: Since this is an all-natural lipstick, make sure you store it in the fridge. You can use it for up to one month.

How To Make Homemade Lipstick With Fruits

 

Berries and pomegranate seeds are rich antioxidants –– while giving your lips a hint of colour, these fruits also nourish your lips and moisturise them instantly. Here’s how to make lipstick with fruits.

 

Ingredients

 

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 2-3 blackberries

  • 2-3 raspberries

  • A bunch of pomegranate seeds

 

Method

 

Step 1 - Mash the berries together to form a runny paste. Squeeze the juice out of the pomegranate seeds into the mix.

 

Step 2 - Add the olive oil and stir. Let the colour from the fruits bleed into the olive oil evenly.

 

Step 3 - Strain the mixture and drain the liquid into a container. Leave in the fridge for 30 minutes to set.

 

Note: Make sure you store this in the refrigerator after every use. It can be used for 2-3 weeks.

How To Make Homemade Lipstick With Rose Petals

 

Rose petals leave your lips with a gorgeous pink tint. This lipstick is loaded with antioxidants that help nourish your lips while leaving them soft and pink. Here’s how to DIY lipstick at home with rose petals.

 

Ingredients

 

  • A bunch of rose petals

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

  • 1 teaspoon beeswax

  • A drop of vanilla extract

  • An empty container

 

Method

 

Step 1 - Add your rose petals to a blender and blend away until you reach a sticky consistency.

 

Step 2 - Empty the rose petals into a pot of boiling water (½ cup) and mix.

 

Step 3 - Using a cheesecloth or cloth strainer, strain out the juice from the petals.

 

Step 4 - Add the olive oil and beeswax and melt them in the microwave for a few seconds. Mix it well.

 

Step 5 - Add a drop or two of vanilla extract and mix again.

 

Step 6 - Pour the concoction into a container and leave it to cool in the freezer for 30 minutes.

 

Note: This rose petal lipstick can be used for approximately six to eight months.

How To Make Homemade Lipstick With Vaseline

 

Vaseline is literally the go-to for most things skincare. It’s that one-stop solution for chapped lips, dry skin, flaky elbows...the works! Vaseline and lip care go hand-in-hand. So here’s how to make lipstick with vaseline.

 

Supplies Required

 

  • 1 tablespoon vaseline

  • 1 stick of butter

  • 1 teaspoon olive oil

  • A packet of drink mix like Tang

 

Method

 

Step 1 - Boil some water in a pot and add a glass bowl in the centre of it.

 

Step 2 - Add the vaseline, butter, and olive oil to the glass bowl and wait till it all melts.

 

Step 3 - Add the drink mix packet (it’ll smell and taste good too). Now blend till all the ingredients mix together nicely.

 

Step 4 - Pour it into a mould or container and let it cool. Store it in the refrigerator.

 

Note: Because of the butter, you might want to store this lipstick in the fridge. You can use this DIY lipstick for up to four to five months.
