6 SPRING-SUMMER 2019 MAKEUP TRENDS WE’RE DEFINITELY GOING TO TRY
This season gave us a mix of the expected and unexpected on Indian & international runways. We got a pretty good dose of just-back-from-the-facialist skin, beautiful sunkissed cheeks and brazen use of blush—everything we’d usually look forward to in the season. But runway makeup artists also threw a few surprises our way with indulgent glitter, rich metallics and arresting pops of neon, graphic shapes.
Bring on the heat
Blame it on global warming if you will but makeup artists took their cues from rising temperatures to herald a major comeback for bronzer. At Altuzarra, Prabal Gurung, Alberta Ferretti and Michael Kors we saw warm tones used all over the face to create a summery après-vacay mood.
Get Graphic
Those with a minimalist beauty aesthetic will appreciate the fact that graphic eyeliners are still going strong. There seem to be no limits to the shapes you can create—exaggerated and forked at Drome, sharp hollow wings at Rahul Mishra or floating cat-eye triangles at Rochas. They’re the raison d’etre for our Stay Defined 2 in 1: Liquid Eyeliner + HD Brow Powder.
Neon Lights
If you’re missing spring’s pastel shades, the neon trend will cure your craving for colour. At Rodarte, makeup artist James Kaliardos created a vivid pink eye, lip, and cheek look. The girls at The Blonds wore neon green eyeliner, the one ones Christian Siriano flaunted acid lime lids, while the Manish Arora sent his lineup down the runway with neon warpaint.
First Flush
Bring out the romantic in you with the bold blush trend. The key is draping: using blush to contour your face. For inspiration look to Brandon Maxwell, Jonathan Simkhai, Hellessy, Pamela Roland and Badgely Mishka.
