What Is It, Exactly?
It is a small machine that combines various ingredients to make you a semi-solid 'sheet' mask. The entire process is quite simple; plug in your machine, add a collagen pill and some fruit juice (or any skincare acid). Wait for a few minutes for the machine to work its magic and out comes your fancy face mask!
If you cannot wait to make your own, here's what...
You'll need:
- A mask-making machine,
- Collagen pills,
- Fresh fruit juice or facial acids (niacinamide, peeling solution, salicylic acid, etc.).
How Does It Work?
Step 1: Turn on your machine, add a collagen pill and then add 7-10 drops of your second ingredient. You can also add a few drops of your go-to moisturiser and sunscreen for an extra protective layer.
Step 2: Wait for a few minutes for the machine to heat up and when it beeps, you'll know that your mask is ready!
The machine will probably take about 5 minutes to mix all the ingredients to produce your custom face beauty face mask. The moment it beeps, it'll pour out a liquidy substance into a face mask mould. Wait for it to dry completely and your jelly-like mask is ready to be used.
You can also make it more fun by adding biodegradable glitter chunks to make a DIY glitter mask or freshly cut fruits for that 'feel-good' moments.
But, It Is Effective?
Yes and no!
While the mask feels fun to use, a lot of the active ingredients lose their effectiveness in the process inside the collagen. Yes, even if you add a lot of product.
It's not as effective and won't give you the same results as applying the same amount on our face directly would give...but it's not completely useless. To enjoy it properly, you can apply some of your skincare products on your skin first and then your DIY collagen mask.
So, Can We Use Something Else?
Have you heard about compressed sheet masks? They are little capsules of paper that become bloated and big as soon as they come in contact with any liquid.
All you need to do is take one of the capsules, put it in a bowl and add a few drops of your skincare product; it can be a serum, essence, a sleeping mask, facial oil or even your moisturiser. In just a matter of 2-3 minutes, your custom sheet mask is ready to be used.
